Terms and Conditions for Students

In the interests of informing Melbourne Polytechnic students of vacancies in a variety of housing options including rooming houses, share houses and vacant properties, Student Services offers an advertising service hereby known as the Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database.

The Student is anyone who uses the Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database to search for and/or secure any type of housing.

The Provider is anyone that submits an advertisement on the Housing Online Noticeboard.

By logging onto the Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database, the Student understands and agrees to the Terms and Conditions outlined below:

1. You acknowledge that Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database is an information exchange service only. Melbourne Polytechnic does not:

  • inspect or otherwise endorse properties.
  • interview housing providers for suitability.
  • act as an agent for or negotiate on behalf of parties.

2. It is your responsibility to ensure that the housing and amenities are suitable for your purposes prior to making a decision about renting.

3. Melbourne Polytechnic does not guarantee the availability of Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database or that access to Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database will be free of defects, viruses or errors.

4. Melbourne Polytechnic does not store housing listings indefinitely. It is your responsibility to retain a hard copy of the listing should it be required in the future.

5. Personal information that has been collected about you as part of this process will be dealt with in accordance with the Melbourne Polytechnic's Privacy policy.

6. Melbourne Polytechnic can in no way guarantee the suitability of co-tenants, landlords or any other relationship formed or found through the Melbourne Polytechnic Off-Campus Accommodation database, and will accept no liability or responsibility for any such interactions.

7. Melbourne Polytechnic believes that better tenancy outcomes are attained when the Student is educated about their rights and duties. We encourage Searchers to obtain information from Consumer Affairs Victoria (CAV) website or by calling 1300 55 81 81.
